Welcome back to our second installment of #StaubSunday! This week Chef Joel shares how he uses his adorable Staub mini cocottes to store homemade flavored salts… an essential in his kitchen. As you can see, these versatile vessels can do so much more than just make mini-souffles or bake eggs.
He has also shared a quick and easy basic recipe for making your own flavored salts at home – so get experimenting and enjoy.
– 2 tablespoons fresh or dry spices of your choice (e.g. chives, lavender, smoked paprika)
– ½ cup coarse salt
Using a mortar and pestle, crush your spices as finely as possible. Add your coarse salt to the crushed spices and give them a good mix.
Ideally let your salt mixture sit for 24 hours to really infuse the salt before use.
